The instrument is NOW an 'INCOMPLETE OBJECT' and is DUTY EXEMPT if declared as such. You want to declare EVERYTHING at the actual US replacement price, so you can adequately insure it. declare the parts as "returned for exchange-wrong finish" for an amount that balances what you declared the case/guitar for in order to come to the actual US replacement cost of the complete instrument & case. declare the instrument for an estimated amount of what you GUESSTIMATE it to be worth MNUS the hardware.ġ3. ship the hardware box & case/guitar separately.ġ2. securely box the case, double-taping it closedġ1. bag the case in a plastic bag or stretch-wrap.ġ0. carefully pack the instrument SNUGLY in the case.ĩ. loosen the trussrod until the neck is dead straight.Ĩ. very carefully wrap & pack the hardware in a separate box.ħ. write "REMOVE TEMPLATE TO INSTALL PICK-UP" on the taped pick-ups.Ħ. mask the pick-ups with masking tape (don't remove them).ĥ. remove the Bigsby, bridge, tuning machines and knobs.Ĥ.
